Guardians

Linking a guardian to a player on a youth team.

For junior teams, a parent or guardian usually needs visibility into their child's schedule and the team chat without occupying a player slot. Klubb models this as a guardian link.

How it works

A guardian link is a record on a team that connects two users:

  • Guardian — a team member with the guardian role
  • Player — a team member with the player role

One guardian can be linked to multiple players (siblings on the same team). One player can have multiple linked guardians (both parents).

Setup flow

Both accounts join the team

The player redeems an invite for the player role. The guardian redeems an invite for the guardian role. They're now both team members, but not yet linked.

An admin creates the link

Under Settings → Members → [player], an admin selects which guardian(s) to link. The link belongs to the team — it doesn't transfer if either user joins another team.

The guardian sees the player's feed

The guardian gets the same game schedule, chat access, and game notifications as the player they're linked to.

What guardians can and can't do

Guardians can:

  • See the team's games, arenas, and referees
  • Read and post in the team chat (and match chat, if enabled)
  • Receive game reminders and alerts targeted at their role

Guardians cannot:

  • Change anything in Settings
  • Manage members, games, or invites
  • Be linked across teams

Guardian links are managed by team admins, not by the guardians themselves. If a parent stops being responsible for a player, an admin removes the link.
